The Berjaya Times Square is probably the most happening shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s located in the most sophisticated area in terms of entertainment in Kuala Lumpur, the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle is a modern and stylish district with 5-star premier hotels, including the Mandarin Oriental and shopping malls such as the Pavilion KL and Sungai Wang Plaza. Secondly, other than being ranked as the the country second largest shopping mall, the Berjaya Times Square is also a multi entertainment complex that incorporates Asia’s largest indoor theme park, Cosmo’s World and Malaysia’s first-ever IMAX 2D & 3D theatre.
Berjaya Time Square shopping mall is located within a massive twin tower complex along Imbi Street at the Golden Triangle area of Kuala Lumpur. The Berjaya Times Square twin tower building is an enormous mega structure that houses the famous Berjaya Time Square shopping center and two five star hotels. Both towers are 203 meters (666 ft) tall, with 48 floors. Berjaya Times Square is the biggest building ever built in Kuala Lumpur as well as in the whole of Malaysia. It is currently the 8th tallest buildings (twin) in Kuala Lumpur and 9th tallest in Malaysia.
Berjaya Time Square has been a major success with its opening launched in October 2003. The complex not only accommodates a shopping mall that incorporates food and entertainment outlets, but also luxury condominiums as well as business offices. Currently, the Berjaya Time Square has space for more than 1,000 retail shops, 1,200 luxury service suites, 65 food outlets to suit many tastes and entertainment attractions such as Asia’s largest indoor theme park, Cosmo’s World and Malaysia’s first-ever IMAX 2D & 3D theater which is located on the 10th Floor.
Due to its massive size, it’s no wonder the Berjaya Time Square is ranked the fifth largest building in the world. Moreover, the Berjaya Time Square has also been named the world’s largest building ever built in a single phase with 7.5 million square feet (700,000 m²) of built up floor area. Berjaya Times Square is the 13th biggest shopping mall in the world (3.5 million square feet, or 320,000 square meters) and the second largest shopping mall in Malaysia after the Mid Valley Mega Mall.
In April 2005, Borders Group opened its first franchise store here. Currently, the store has the largest Borders store in the world. Other popular stores include Metrojaya, which took Debenhams place as the multi-level major department store, and many more.
